Who We Are

Welcome to The Stigma Relief Fund, a non-profit group dedicated to helping women access abortion services. Growing stigma surrounding abortion has made it increasingly difficult for women, especially those with limited resources, to obtain abortions or even access basic reproductive health services. This stigma occurs in a variety of forms, from silence and aggravation to anti-choice legislation. The result is not only more unnecessary hoops for patients to jump through, but also a growing deterioration of reproductive rights and a startling tolerance for the harassment of patients and providers.

Since the passage of Roe v. Wade in 1973, over 50 million women have obtained an abortion, and with current rates approximately 1 in 3 women will undergo an abortion in their lifetime. Where are these women in the national or even local discussions? Stigma surrounding one of the safest, most common medical procedures in the nation has pushed those involved in to silence, creating an open arena for others working to limit access.

We understand that the unnecessary processes legislated by the government are adding significantly to the time and financial burdens faced by women seeking abortions. Our mission is to support and aid women in their effort to obtain an abortion amidst the constraints caused by stigma. We invite you to become a part of our organization or donate here.

Absolutely! If you’re seeking a procedure but need help, call (877) 754-2271 and just ask one of our phone counselors about what options are available for financial assistance.

If you’re ever in a medical emergency, hang up and dial 911.

Hi, I am seeking to get an abortion. My boyfriend and I just found out today that I am 12 weeks and 2 days pregnant–which is a lot further along than we had thought (I had my periods up until last month). We cannot pay for an abortion as it’s a struggle just to pay for rent and bills. If there is any way that you guys could be of assistance, I’d appreciate any kind of help.

I had originally spoken with a girl from Free Abortion Alternatives, but she was very incompetent and helping us out properly and timely. I don’t know if there are any free abortion clinics out there in Austin, TX, but if there are or if you could help assist us, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for contacting us. First of all, be careful with organizations like Free Abortion Alternatives. They are what’s called a Crisis Pregnancy Center, a company that seeks to prevent women from getting abortion care in Texas.

We have a clinic in Austin but also a clinic in Ft Worth, San Antonio, McAllen, and Beaumont. Where are you located? We have funding available at all of these places to help you get the procedure done. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at (512) 250-1005 to set up an appointment.

Nope! We offer assistance at our clinics in Texas, Whole Woman’s Health of Baltimore, and Whole Woman’s Health of Twin Cities (Minneapolis). Are you in either of those areas?

Thanks for your timely comment-I am not unfortunately. I’m located in Wisconsin, but traveling to CO. I’ve just been looking into any and all resource related sites and funding to help cover financial assistance for my abortion. Do you know of any other resources in addition to the National Hotlines etc?

The national hotlines to contact would be the National Abortion Fund (NAF), the Abortion Care Network (ACN), Fund Abortion Now, and the Third Wave Foundation. There should be some local Colorado funds as well.

Good luck, Stephanie. We wish you all the best in finding the care you need. If you end up in Minneapolis, let us know!

We are actually unable to assist with the procedure unless you’re going to one of our clinics. Where are you having your procedure done?

Please call our Austin clinic at 512-250-1005. We have phone counselors that can help you if you need to talk about how you’re feeling, what the process is like, what you can do, and they can also make an appointment for your procedure.

The total cost of the procedure for a pregnancy at 5 weeks gestational age would be $525. We also have funds available where we can help you pay for the procedure.

    Thank you, Elaine.

Unfortunately in the state of Texas we are only able to go up to 20 weeks gestational age or 21.6 weeks LMP. Please give us a call at 512-250-1005 to see if we can set you up with a sonogram to make sure of exactly how far along your pregnancy is. If we are able to help, we do have financial assistance available.

    Thank you,

Unfortunately we aren’t located in New Mexico, but there is assistance there if you call (800) 772-9100. That’s the number to the National Abortion Fund.

We wish you the best of luck, Tatiana.
